Volume 2 of the Trojan Story is not an attempt to compile a set of Trojan's greatest hits - rather it's an anthology of some of the best of thousands of classic tracks lying around, half-forgotten in the Trojan tape vaults. The period covered is 1971-1981.
The tracks which make up this two CD set showcase the talents of Jamaica's finest singers, songwriters and musicians and their contribution to their music.

V.A. - Klikers (klik 1975)
A highly enjoyable set on the disappointingly short-lived Klik label.
"Klikers" comprises just about all the single A sides that were released on their subsidiary Angel during the dynamic year of 1975. Former Tennors member Ronnie Davis is featured heavily on fast and infectious Bunny Lee riddims of the time. Especially note Davis' remake of the Tennors cover of John Holt's "Sad News" which has here become "Good News". It was this riddim Bunny Lee reused to create that monster, "Move Out A Babylon", with JohnnyClarke late in 1974. This 1975 take includes horns.
One must also mention Cornell Campbell's immensely catchy "The Gorgon"which here and on the original UK single release was called "The MightyGorgon".
Although there is usually not much to be said against Blood & Fire's restoration of old vinyl, this mint vinyl copy really makes theirs blush! It is fresh with the flying cymbals sizzling, and lots of small detail not worn away by incessant playing! Likewise I've heard The Upsetters'"Stay Dread" on pitiful CD reissues, here it sounds well hard. Unfortunately Klik lost the beginning drum roll but that is forgiven now.
Enjoy! I-Self
