The Light Of Saba - The Light Of Saba In Reggae

Total Sounds 197x, recorded at Harry J & Joe Gibbs,
vocals by Michael Ras Star
The missing link between Sun Ra and roots reggae. The beat of the drums, the breathy airy bamboo flute, the majestic trumpets, the tinglin acoustic guitar all blend together in a timeless stream of devotion to Rasta and music.
If you like reggae most if it's melodious, jazzy, and with soul, than you'll love "The Light Of Saba In Reggae". Listening to the album gives me the feeling like the band is playing live and direct to me.
I just picture them in my backyard.

The Light Of Saba - Sabebe

Total Sounds LP 1978
A beautiful highly spiritual and fresh mixture of roots, afrobeat and soul, recorded at Aquarius studio. "Sabebe" is one of the holy grails of reggae, re-issued in 2008 on the Kingston Connection label.
The large Rastafarian group which started as the Divine Light and later became the Light of Saba, led by saxophonist Cedric Im Brooks, consisted of several players, singers and dancers sharing a communal space in Brooks' back yard for longtime during the 70's.
The inspired organic sound of the music shows that Cedric Im Brooks managed to achieve what he set out to do: bringing a large collection of voices and musical influences together into a living, breathing whole. There is little Jamaican music genre-bending like this.
